Pattern

  1. Back Panel:
  2. Cast on 50 (56, 62) stitches.
  3. Work in stockinette stitch until piece measures 8 (9, 10) inches.
  4. Next row (buttonhole row): K3, yo, k2tog, knit to end.
  5. Continue in stockinette stitch for 2 more rows, bind off.
  6. Front Panels (make 2):
  7. Cast on 25 (28, 31) stitches.
  8. Work in stockinette stitch until piece measures same as back to underarm.
  9. Next row (buttonhole row): Knit to last 3 stitches, k2tog, yo, k1.
  10. Repeat the last 3 rows until piece measures same as back panel, bind off.
  11. Finishing:
  12. Sew shoulder seams of back and front panels.
  13. Sew side seams leaving a 4-inch armhole.
  14. Pick up stitches along the neckline and work 2 rows of single crochet.
  15. Sew on buttons evenly spaced along the button band.
