Using larger needles, cast on 80 (88, 96) stitches.
Work in ribbed mesh stitch pattern:
Row 1: *K2, P2* to end
Row 2: Knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches
Repeat these 2 rows until the piece measures 18 (19, 20) inches from cast on edge, ending with a wrong side row.
Bind off 6 (7, 8) stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows.
