Top Down High Neck Knitted Basket Weave Vest - Size Large
Materials:
- Yarn: Medium weight yarn (UK: Aran, AU: 10ply), Approx. 600g (Imperial: 21oz, Metric: 600g)
- Needles: US 8 (UK 6, Metric 5mm) and US 7 (UK 7, Metric 4.5mm) circular needles
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
Gauge:
20 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches in basket weave pattern using larger needles
Instructions:
- Cast on and Neck Section: Using larger needles, cast on 100 stitches. Work in 1x1 ribbing (k1, p1) for 1 inch.
- High Neck: Continue in basket weave pattern:
- Row 1 (RS): *K2, p2; repeat from * to end.
- Row 2 (WS): *P2, k2; repeat from * to end.
- Repeat these 2 rows for basket weave pattern.
- Continue in pattern until work measures 6 inches from cast on edge, ending with a WS row.
- Armhole Shaping: Place markers at each end of row for armholes.
- Shoulder Shaping: Begin shaping shoulders. Bind off 6 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Then decrease 1 stitch at each end of every RS row 5 times. Continue in pattern until armhole measures 8 inches, ending with a WS row.
- Back Section: Slip the held back stitches back onto the needle. Join yarn and knit across these stitches. Continue in pattern until back section measures same as front.
- Finishing: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up stitches around armholes and work in 1x1 ribbing for 1 inch. Bind off loosely. Weave in ends and block the vest to measurements.
