Baby Garter Stitch Sweater

Materials

20 stitches and 40 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch

This pattern is for a baby aged 6-12 months. The finished chest measures approximately 20 inches.

Back Panel: Cast on 50 stitches.
Knit every row (garter stitch) until piece measures 8 inches from cast on edge.
Place markers at each end of the last row knit. These markers will indicate the beginning and end of the armholes.
Continue knitting in garter stitch, decreasing 1 stitch at each armhole edge every other row, 4 times. (42 stitches remaining)
Continue knitting until piece measures 11 inches from cast on edge.
Bind off all stitches.
Front Panels (make 2): Cast on 25 stitches.
Knit every row until piece measures 8 inches from cast on edge.
Place markers at each end of the last row knit. These markers will indicate the beginning and end of the armholes.
Continue knitting in garter stitch, decreasing 1 stitch at the armhole edge every other row, twice. (21 stitches remaining)
Continue knitting until piece measures 11 inches from cast on edge.
Bind off all stitches.
Sew front panels to back panel at shoulders.
Sew side seams.
Weave in all ends.
