Baby Garter Stitch Sweater

- Yarn: Light Worsted Weight (UK: Double Knitting (DK), AU: 8 ply)

Gauge
20 stitches and 40 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch

This pattern is for a baby aged 6-12 months. The finished chest measures approximately 20 inches.
Pattern
- Back Panel: Cast on 50 stitches.
- Knit every row (garter stitch) until piece measures 8 inches from cast on edge.
- Place markers at each end of the last row knit. These markers will indicate the beginning and end of the armholes.
- Continue knitting in garter stitch, decreasing 1 stitch at each armhole edge every other row, 4 times. (42 stitches remaining)
- Continue knitting until piece measures 11 inches from cast on edge.
- Bind off all stitches.
- Front Panels (make 2): Cast on 25 stitches.
- Knit every row until piece measures 8 inches from cast on edge.
- Place markers at each end of the last row knit. These markers will indicate the beginning and end of the armholes.
- Continue knitting in garter stitch, decreasing 1 stitch at the armhole edge every other row, twice. (21 stitches remaining)
- Continue knitting until piece measures 11 inches from cast on edge.
- Bind off all stitches.
- Sew front panels to back panel at shoulders.
- Sew side seams.
- Weave in all ends.
