20 stitches and 26 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch
Thumb Gusset:
Using the long tail cast on method, cast on 36 (40, 44) stitches. Divide the stitches evenly across 3-4 double-pointed needles.
Round 1: K18 (20, 22), PM, K2, PM, K to end of round.
Rounds 2-4: Knit all stitches.
Round 5: K18 (20, 22), PM, K2 (marker for thumb gusset), M1R, K1, M1L, K to end of round.
Round 6: Knit all stitches.
Repeat Rounds 5-6 until there are 18 (20, 22) stitches between the thumb markers.
Main Hand:
Next Round: K18 (20, 22), remove thumb markers, place thumb stitches on holder or waste yarn, K to end of round.
Continue knitting in rounds for desired length.
Cuff:
Work *K2, P2* ribbing for 1.5 inches (3.8 cm).
Bind off in pattern.
Thumb:
