Christmas Stocking Knitting Pattern

This pattern creates a festive Christmas stocking with 60 stitches and uses 3 colors for a fun and colorful design.

Materials:

• Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in 3 colors A, B, and C (Color A is main color)
• Needles: US 8 / UK 6 / 5 mm double-pointed needles
• Tapestry needle

Gauge:

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Instructions:

1. Using Color A, cast on 60 stitches.
2. Distribute stitches evenly onto 3 double-pointed needles (20 stitches on each needle).
3. Join for working in the round, being careful not to twist.
4. Work in stockinette stitch (knit every round) for 10 inches.
5. Switch to Color B and knit 2 rounds.
6. Switch to Color C and knit 1 round.
7. Repeat the color pattern (2 rounds Color B, 1 round Color C) 3 more times.
8. Switch back to Color A and knit in stockinette stitch for another 6 inches.
9. Shape the toe:
   • Round 1: *[K6, k2tog]; repeat from * around.
   • Rounds 2-3: Knit all stitches.
   • Round 4: *[K5, k2tog]; repeat from * around.
   • Rounds 5-6: Knit all stitches.
   • Continue in this manner, decreasing by 1 stitch before the decrease every other round until 12 stitches remain.
10. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches, pull tight to close toe, and weave in ends.
11. Optional: Add a decorative pom-pom or tassel to the top of the stocking.
