This pattern creates a classic checkered design where both horizontal and vertical stripes alternate in a grid. Each block of color is 4 stitches wide and 4 rows tall, alternating between Color A and Color B in both directions.
Materials:
Gauge: 20 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Pattern:
Cast on a multiple of 8 stitches, plus 4 stitches for edge stitches.
Row 1 (Right Side): With Color A, knit 4 stitches, *purl 4 stitches, knit 4 stitches; repeat from * to end of row.
Row 2 (Wrong Side): With Color A, purl 4 stitches, *knit 4 stitches, purl 4 stitches; repeat from * to end of row.
Row 3: With Color B, knit 4 stitches, *purl 4 stitches, knit 4 stitches; repeat from * to end of row.
