Colorwork Beanie Pattern

This colorwork beanie pattern features a beautiful and intricate design that is perfect for intermediate to advanced knitters.

Materials:

• Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors. Color A (Main Color) - 100g (approx. 200 yds). Color B (Contrast Color) - 50g (approx. 100 yds).
• Needles: US 6 (4.0mm) and US 8 (5.0mm) 16-inch circular needles, US 8 (5.0mm) DPNs.
• Tapestry needle, stitch marker.

Gauge:

20 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on US 8 (5.0mm) needles.

Size:

One size fits most adult heads (approx. 20-22 inches in circumference).

Pattern:

1. Using Color A and US 6 (4.0mm) circular needles, cast on 100 stitches. Join in the round, being careful not to twist, and place marker for beginning of round.
2. Ribbing: *K2, P2; repeat from * to end of round. Repeat this round for a total of 1 inch.
3. Switch to US 8 (5.0mm) circular needles.
4. Begin colorwork chart for the body of the hat using Color A and Color B.
5. Continue in pattern until hat measures 7.5 inches from cast-on edge.
6. Crown decreases: Switch to DPNs when necessary.
7. Round 1: *K8, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
8. Round 2: Knit all stitches.
9. Round 3: *K7, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
10. Round 4: Knit all stitches.
11. Continue in this manner, knitting 1 less stitch between decreases each decrease round, until 10 stitches remain.
12. Break yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches and pull tight to close the crown. Weave in ends.
