Gauge
In Stockinette: 14 stitches x 20 rows = 4 inches | Pattern: Cable Pattern: 18 stitches x 20 rows = 4 inches
Pattern
- Cast on 72 stitches using long tail cast on method.
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist stitches. Place marker at the beginning of round.
- Work *6-stitch right cable* around.
- Continue in cable pattern until piece measures 6 inches from cast on edge.
- Begin crown shaping.
- Decrease Round 1: *K6, K2tog* around.
- Decrease Round 2: Knit around.
- Decrease Round 3: *K5, K2tog* around.
- Decrease Round 4: Knit around.
- Continue in this manner, decreasing 6 stitches every other round until 8 stitches remain.
- Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches, pull tight to close the top of the hat.
- Weave in all ends and block hat to measurements.
