1. <strong>Cast on:</strong> Using long tail cast on method, cast on 64 stitches.
2. <strong>Ribbing:</strong> *K2, P2; repeat from * to end of round. Repeat this round for 2 inches.
3. <strong>Body:</strong> Knit all stitches for 5 inches.
4. <strong>Cable pattern:</strong>
5. Rounds 1-4: *P2, C6B*; repeat from * to end of round.
6. Rounds 5-8: *P2, K6*; repeat from * to end of round.
7. Repeat rounds 1-8 until hat measures 8 inches from cast on edge.
8. <strong>Crown shaping:</strong>
9. Round 1: *P2tog, K6*; repeat from * to end of round.
10. Round 2: *P1, K2tog, P1, K5*; repeat from * to end of round.
