Instructions

Start with a magic ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), 11 dc in the ring, join with a sl st to the top of the initial ch 3. Pull the ring tight. (12 dc)
Ch 3, dc in the same st, 2 dc in each st around, join with a sl st to the top of the initial ch 3. (24 dc)
Ch 3, dc in the same st, *dc in the next st, 2 dc in the next st, repeat from * around, join. (36 dc)
Continue to increase in the same manner, adding 12 sts evenly spaced in each round until you reach the desired waist size.
Once you reach the desired waist size, begin the shell pattern:
Ch 3, skip 2 sts, 5 dc in the next st (shell made), *skip 2 sts, sc in the next st, skip 2 sts, shell in the next st, repeat from * around, join.
Repeat the shell pattern for the desired length of your skirt.
Finish off and weave in all ends.

Finishing

To add an optional waistband, work in rows of ribbing or desired stitch pattern of your choice to create a waistband that fits comfortably around your waist. Sew the waistband to the top of the skirt. Block if needed.
