Gauge

Measurement: 4 inches in stockinette stitch | Stitches: 22 | Rows: 30

Pattern

  1. Cast on 100 stitches using long-tail cast on method.
  2. Join in the round, being careful not to twist stitches.
  3. Work in stockinette stitch for 10 inches.
  4. Begin decreases as follows: Row 1: *K8, k2tog; repeat from * to end. Rows 2 and all even rows: Purl. Row 3: *K7, k2tog; repeat from * to end. Continue in this manner, decreasing by 1 stitch before each k2tog, until only a few stitches remain.
  5. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches, pull tight to close the top of the helmet, and secure.
  6. Sew on black mesh fabric for the face area, leaving room for the eyes and mouth.
  7. Stuff the helmet lightly with fiberfill for structure.
  8. Enjoy your Darth Vader knitted helmet!
