Pattern: Fingering Weight Yarn Soda Bottle Cozy
Materials:
- Fingering weight yarn (US 1 / UK Old 14 / 2.25 mm)
- Knitting needles appropriate for yarn weight
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge: 8 stitches x 10 rows = 1 inch in stockinette stitch
Finished Size: Fits standard soda bottle (adjustable)
Instructions:
- Cast on 60 stitches.
- Work in stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) for 2 inches.
- Next row (right side): Knit 20, place marker, knit 20, place marker, knit 20.
- Continue in stockinette stitch, knitting the knitted stitches and purling the purled stitches, until piece measures 8 inches from cast on edge.
- Knit to first marker, place next 20 stitches on holder or waste yarn for handle, knit to next marker, place next 20 stitches on holder or waste yarn for second handle, knit to end.
- Work each section separately in stockinette stitch for 3 inches.
- Rejoin yarn to first set of stitches, knit across all stitches, pick up and knit 10 stitches along side of first handle section, knit across second set of stitches, pick up and knit 10 stitches along side of second handle section, knit to end.
- Continue in stockinette stitch for 1 inch.
- Bind off all stitches.
- Weave in ends and sew up any remaining seams.
