Flat Knitted Doll Pattern
An intermediate-level knitting project using medium yarn.

22 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Pattern
- Cast on 30 stitches using the long tail cast on method.
- Rows 1-10: Knit all stitches for garter stitch border.
- Row 11: Kfb across all stitches (60 stitches).
- Rows 12-40: Knit all stitches for stockinette stitch.
- Row 41: K1, ssk, knit to last 3 stitches, k2tog, k1 (58 stitches).
- Rows 42-50: Knit all stitches for stockinette stitch.
- Row 51: K1, ssk, knit to last 3 stitches, k2tog, k1 (56 stitches).
- Rows 52-60: Knit all stitches for stockinette stitch.
- Continue working the pattern, decreasing 2 stitches on each decrease row until 10 stitches remain.
- Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Using a yarn needle, thread the tail through the remaining stitches, pull tight to close the top of the head, and secure.
- Fold the knitted piece in half with the right side facing in. Using mattress stitch, sew up the sides, leaving the bottom edge open for stuffing.
- Turn the piece right side out. Stuff the doll firmly with toy stuffing.
- Using mattress stitch, sew the bottom edge closed.
- You can customize the doll by adding facial features, hair, and clothing using embroidery or small pieces of knit and crochet fabric.
