Ribbed Winter Beanie Knitting Pattern

This cozy ribbed winter beanie is the perfect accessory to keep you warm and stylish during the colder months. The pattern is suitable for intermediate knitters and is worked in the round.

Materials:

• Yarn: Aran weight yarn (UK - Aran, US - 4, Metric - 10 ply), approximately 150 yards (137 meters)
• Needles: US size 8 (UK size 6, Metric size 5mm) 16-inch circular needles and US size 8 double-pointed needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch marker

Gauge:

18 stitches and 24 rounds = 4 inches (10cm) in ribbing pattern

Pattern:

1. Cast on 88 stitches using the long-tail cast on method on circular needles. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place marker at the beginning of the round.
2. Round 1: *K2, P2; repeat from * to end of round.
3. Rounds 2-10: Repeat Round 1.
4. Continue in K2, P2 ribbing pattern until the piece measures 8 inches (20cm) from the cast on edge, ending with a round 1.
5. Decrease Round 1: *K2, P2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
6. Decrease Round 2: *K2, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
7. Decrease Round 3: *K2tog, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
8. Decrease Round 4: *K2, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
9. Decrease Round 5: *K2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
10. Cut yarn, leaving a tail. Thread yarn through remaining stitches and pull tight to close the top of the beanie.
11. Weave in ends and block the beanie to shape.
