- This pattern is worked in the round from the bottom up.
- Adjust the length of the bag by adding more rounds to the sides.
- You can customise the colour to your preference.
Pattern
- Round 1: Magic ring, 6 sc in ring. (6 sts)
- Round 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts)
- Round 3: *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around. (18 sts)
- Round 4: *1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around. (24 sts)
- Round 5: *1 sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around. (30 sts)
- Round 6: *1 sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around. (36 sts)
- Continue increasing by 6 sts per round in this manner until the base measures approximately 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter.
- Once the base is the desired size, work even in sc (no increases) for approximately 20 rounds, or until the bag reaches 8 inches (20 cm) in height.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
- Casing: Fold the top edge of the bag inward by about 1 inch (2.5 cm). Using a yarn needle and matching yarn, whip stitch the folded edge in place, leaving a 2-inch (5 cm) gap to insert the elastic.
- Thread the elastic band through the casing. Overlap the ends by 1 inch and sew them together securely.
- Stitch the gap in the casing closed. Your scrunchie bag is ready to use!
