Striped Beanie Knitting Pattern
This pattern will guide you through creating a cozy and stylish beanie with three beautiful colors in 8 ply yarn. Let's get started!
Materials:
- Yarn: 8 ply in 3 different colors
US Needle Size: 6 / UK Old Needle Size: 8 / Metric Needle Size: 4mm - Circular knitting needles
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
22 stitches x 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Pattern:
- Using the first color, cast on 100 stitches.
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.
- Knit 2, purl 2 ribbing for 2 inches.
- Switch to stockinette stitch and knit every round until the piece measures 5 inches from the cast-on edge.
- Switch to the second color and knit 2 rounds.
- Switch to the third color and knit 2 rounds.
- Repeat rounds 5 and 6 twice more, alternating colors.
- Switch back to the first color and knit every round until the hat measures 7.5 inches from the cast-on edge.
- Begin decreasing: Round 1 - *Knit 8, k2tog; repeat from * around.
- Round 2 and all even rounds: Knit.
- Round 3 - *Knit 7, k2tog; repeat from * around.
- Continue to decrease in this manner, knitting 1 less stitch between decreases in each round until 10 stitches remain.
- Break the yarn, leaving a tail. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches, pull tight to close the top of the hat, and secure.
- Weave in all ends and block the hat to shape.
