Gauge
22 sts x 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Pattern
Cast On and Setup
- Using the first color, cast on 3 stitches.
- Knit 1 row.
- Increase row: K1, M1L, knit to end. (4 sts)
Body of the Shawl
- Row 1 (RS): Using the first color, knit.
- Row 2 (WS): Using the first color, purl.
- Repeat Rows 1-2 for a total of 20 rows.
- Switch to the second color.
- Row 21 (RS): Using the second color, knit.
- Row 22 (WS): Using the second color, purl.
- Repeat Rows 21-22 for a total of 10 rows.
Shaping
- Continue repeating the body section, alternating colors and working 10-row stripes of each color until you have used up most of your yarn, keeping enough to bind off.
- Next row (RS): Using both colors, knit.
- Next row (WS): Using both colors, purl.
- Bind off all stitches knitwise.
Finishing
- Weave in all ends.
- Block your shawl to measurements, being careful not to stretch the garter stitch too much.
