Gauge

Pattern

Cast on Using US 8 / 5 mm needles and the long-tail (or your preferred) cast-on, CO 120 sts.

Body Knit every row (garter stitch).

Work until the piece measures 36 in (91.5 cm) from the cast-on edge, or 288 rows / 144 ridges.
(36 in ÷ 4 in × 32 rows = 288 rows ✓)
(288 rows ÷ 2 = 144 ridges ✓)

Do not stretch the fabric when measuring; lay it flat.

Bind off BO all sts knitwise. Keep the bind-off tension similar to the fabric so the top edge matches the cast-on edge. Fasten off, leaving a 6 in (15 cm) tail.

Finishing

1. Weave in all ends on the wrong side (either side may be used as the right side).
2. Block lightly: soak in lukewarm water with a little wool wash, press out water in a towel (do not wring), and pat to 30 × 36 in (76 × 91.5 cm). Allow to dry flat.
3. Optional: add a small fabric care tag if the blanket is a gift.
