Cable Twist Ribbed Beanie

This cable twist ribbed beanie pattern is perfect for an intermediate knitter looking to create a cozy and stylish accessory.

Materials:

• Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK: Aran, Metric: 10 ply)
• Needles: US 8 (UK 6, Metric 5mm) 16" circular needles and US 8 (UK 6, Metric 5mm) double-pointed needles
• Cable needle
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch marker

Gauge:

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Instructions:

1. Using the circular needles, cast on 88 stitches. Join in the round, being careful not to twist. Place marker at the beginning of the round.
2. Ribbing: *K2, P2; repeat from * to end of round. Repeat this round for a total of 1.5 inches.
3. Cable twist round: *K6, sl next 3 stitches onto cable needle and hold in front, K3 from left-hand needle, K3 from cable needle; repeat from * to end of round.
4. Continue alternating between ribbing and cable twist rounds until piece measures 7 inches from cast-on edge, ending with a cable twist round.
5. Decrease rounds:
   1. *K2, P2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
   2. K all sts.
   3. *K1, P2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
   4. K all sts.
   5. *P2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
   6. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches, pull tight to close the hole, and secure on the inside of the hat.
6. Weave in any remaining ends and block the beanie to shape.
