Cable Twist Beanie Knitting Pattern

Instructions

1. Cast on 80 stitches.
2. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches, and place marker for beginning of round.
3. Work in 2x2 ribbing (K2, P2) for 1.5 inches.
4. Begin cable pattern: Row 1: *P2, C4B, C4F; repeat from * to end of round. Rows 2-6: Knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches as they appear.
5. Continue in cable pattern until hat measures 7.5 inches from cast on edge.
6. Decrease rounds: Round 1: *K6, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round. Round 2: Knit. Round 3: *K5, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round. Round 4: Knit. Round 5: *K4, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round. Round 6: Knit. Round 7: *K3, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round. Round 8: Knit. Round 9: *K2, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round. Round 10: Knit. Round 11: *K1, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round. Round 12: K2tog around.
7. Cut yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches and pull tight to close the top of the hat.
8. Weave in ends and block the hat to shape.
