Cable Beanie Knitting Pattern

Materials
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK Aran, Metric 10 ply) - 150 yards/137 meters
- Needles: US 7 (UK 7, Metric 4.5mm) and US 8 (UK 6, Metric 5mm) double-pointed needles or circular needles
- Cable needle
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch marker
Gauge
20 stitches x 26 rows = 4 inches/10cm in stockinette stitch using US 8 needles
Instructions
- Using US 7 needles, cast on 88 stitches. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place marker at the beginning of the round.
- Work *k2, p2* ribbing for 1.5 inches.
- Begin cable pattern: Row 1 - *C8F, k8* to end of round. Rows 2-6 - Knit all stitches.
- Repeat these 6 rows until the hat measures approximately 7.5 inches from the cast-on edge, ending on a Row 6.
- Shape crown: Switch to US 8 needles. Row 1 - *K6, k2tog* to end of round. Row 2 and all even rows - Knit all stitches. Row 3 - *K5, k2tog* to end of round. Row 5 - *K4, k2tog* to end of round. Row 7 - *K3, k2tog* to end of round. Row 9 - *K2, k2tog* to end of round. Row 11 - *K1, k2tog* to end of round. Row 13 - *K2tog* to end of round.
- Cut yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches, draw tight, and secure on the inside of the hat.
- Weave in ends and block your beanie to shape.
