Calf Length Socks Knitting Pattern

This pattern is designed for knitting cuff down calf length socks using variegated yarn. Get ready to create a colorful and cozy pair of socks!

Materials:

• Yarn: Variegated fingering weight yarn (Approximately 350 yards/320 meters)
• Needles: US 1 (2.25mm) or UK 13 or Metric 1.5mm double-pointed needles

Gauge:

32 stitches and 40 rounds = 4 inches/10cm in stockinette stitch

Instructions:

1. Cuff: Using long-tail cast on, cast on 64 stitches. Divide evenly on double-pointed needles and join in the round, being careful not to twist.
2. Work K2, P2 ribbing for 15 rounds.
3. Leg: Knit in stockinette stitch until the leg measures desired length (approximately 9 inches/23cm).
4. Heel Flap: Work the heel flap over half of the total stitches (32 stitches).
   • Row 1: *(Sl1, K1), repeat from * to end.
   • Row 2: Sl1, Purl to end.
   • Repeat these 2 rows for a total of 32 rows.
5. Turn Heel: Follow a classic heel turn technique to shape the heel.
6. Gusset: Pick up stitches along the heel flap, then decrease gusset stitches to get back to the total stitch count.
7. Foot: Continue knitting in stockinette stitch until foot measures 2 inches/5cm less than desired foot length.
8. Toe: Follow a standard toe decrease method to close the toe of the sock.
9. Weave in all ends and repeat for the second sock.
