Chunky Knit Boot Socks Pattern

Stay cozy and stylish with these chunky knit boot socks. Perfect for keeping your feet warm during the cold months!

Materials:

Gauge:

14 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Instructions:

  1. Cast on 40 stitches and join in the round, being careful not to twist.
  2. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 2 inches.
  3. Switch to stockinette stitch and knit every round until the sock measures approximately 10 inches from the cast-on edge.
  4. Heel Flap: Divide the stitches in half. Work back and forth on the first half of the stitches in stockinette stitch for 20 rows.
  5. Turn Heel: Row 1 (RS): K22, SSK, K1, turn. Row 2 (WS): P5, P2tog, P1, turn. Row 3: K6, SSK, K1, turn. Row 4: P7, P2tog, P1, turn. Continue in this manner, working one more stitch before the decrease each row until all stitches are worked. You should have 12 heel stitches remaining.
  6. Gusset: Pick up and knit 10 stitches along the edge of the heel flap. Knit across the instep stitches. Pick up and knit 10 stitches along the other edge of the heel flap, then knit half of the heel stitches. Place marker for beginning of round.
  7. Decrease Round: Knit to 3 stitches before instep, K2tog, K1, knit instep stitches, K1, SSK, knit to end of round.
  8. Repeat the Decrease Round until you have 40 stitches total.
  9. Foot: Continue working in the round until the foot measures approximately 2 inches shorter than the desired total length of the sock.
  10. Toe: Round 1: K to 3 stitches before marker, K2tog, K1, slip marker, K1, SSK, knit to end of instep. Repeat for second half of sock.
  11. Round 2: Knit all stitches.
  12. Repeat these 2 rounds until you have 20 stitches remaining.
  13. Graft toe closed using Kitchener stitch.
  14. Weave in ends and block socks to shape.
