Chunky Knit Hat Pattern

This pattern is designed for a cozy and stylish chunky knit hat using 8mm straight needles and chunky wool.

Materials:

• Chunky wool (Weight: 5 Bulky, 100% wool, 100g/3.5oz, 109yds/100m)
• 8mm straight knitting needles
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Gauge:

12 stitches x 16 rows = 4 inches/10cm in stockinette stitch

Instructions:

1. Cast on 60 stitches.
2. Row 1-10: Knit all stitches for 10 rows for the brim of the hat.
3. Row 11: Begin stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) and continue until the hat measures 8 inches from the cast-on edge.
4. Decrease rows: Row 1: *K6, K2tog*, repeat across the row. Row 2 and all even rows: Purl. Row 3: *K5, K2tog*, repeat across the row. Row 5: *K4, K2tog*, repeat across the row. Row 7: *K3, K2tog*, repeat across the row. Row 9: *K2, K2tog*, repeat across the row. Row 11: *K1, K2tog*, repeat across the row. Row 13: *K2tog*, repeat across the row.
5. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches, pull tight to close the hole.
6. Seam the hat along the edge using the mattress stitch.
7. Weave in all ends and trim excess yarn.
