A stylish and trendy corset top knitting pattern that is perfect for layering or wearing on its own. This pattern is suitable for intermediate knitters who are familiar with basic knitting stitches and techniques.
18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
This pattern is written in one size to fit a bust circumference of approximately 34-36 inches. The stretchy nature of the design allows for some flexibility in sizing.
Cast on 120 stitches. Work in rib stitch (K1, P1) for 2 inches.
Next row (Right Side): Knit across.
Begin working in stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) until piece measures approximately 12 inches from the cast on edge.
Next row (Right Side): Knit 60, place marker, knit to end.
Continue working in stockinette stitch, decreasing 1 stitch before and after the marker every 6th row, until 100 stitches remain.
Continue in stockinette stitch until piece measures approximately 15 inches from the cast on edge.
Work in rib stitch (K1, P1) for 2 inches. Bind off all stitches.
Weave in any loose ends and block your finished piece to measurements.
Fold the piece in half with wrong sides together and seam the sides together, leaving a gap at the top for armholes. Weave in any remaining ends.
To add a corset-style detail, use a contrasting yarn to create eyelet holes along the front edges of the top and lace them up with a matching cord or ribbon.
