Gauge

Approximately 20 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch.

Pattern Instructions

1. Cast On

Using your preferred cast-on method, cast on 80 stitches. Join to knit in the round, being careful not to twist and placing a stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round.

2. Ribbing

Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 1.5 inches (4 cm) to create a stretchy brim.

3. Main Body

Switch to stockinette stitch (knit all stitches in the round) and continue to knit in the round until the beanie measures approximately 6 inches (15 cm) from the cast-on edge.

4. Shaping the Crown

Decrease rounds:

• Round 1: *K8, K2tog*; repeat from * to end.
• Round 2: Knit all stitches

5. Finishing

Cut yarn, leaving a 6-inch (15 cm) tail. Draw the tail through the remaining stitches and tighten to close the top of the beanie. Weave in loose ends securely.
