Cozy Hooded Sweater Jacket Pattern
This cozy hooded sweater jacket is perfect for keeping you warm on cool fall days or mild winter days. The mid-calf length, semi-loose arms, and roomy fit make it comfortable to layer over a T-shirt. Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK: Aran, Metric: 10 ply) - approximately 1500-1800 yards
- Needles: US 8 (UK 6, Metric 5mm) and US 10 (UK 4, Metric 6mm) straight or circular needles
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch with larger needles
Instructions:
- Back Panel: Cast on 100 stitches with smaller needles and work in stockinette stitch for 30 inches.
- Front Panels (make 2): Cast on 50 stitches with smaller needles and work in stockinette stitch for 15 inches.
- Sleeves (make 2): Cast on 40 stitches with smaller needles and work in stockinette stitch for 20 inches. Increase 1 stitch at each end every 4 rows 10 times (60 stitches). Work even until sleeve measures 24 inches.
- Assembly: Seam front and back panels at shoulders. Pick up stitches along the neckline and work in rib stitch for 2 inches. Seam sleeves to body, leaving gaps for armholes. Seam side seams.
- Hood: Pick up stitches along the neckline and work in stockinette stitch for 15 inches. Decrease 1 stitch at each end every other row 10 times, then every row until 20 stitches remain. Bind off.
- Pockets: Pick up stitches on the sides below the hip and knit in stockinette stitch for 8 inches. Bind off.
- Finishing: Attach pockets to desired location. Add belt loops on the back and sides as desired. Sew toggle buttons and loops on the front for closure.
