Pattern

1. Using long tail cast on, cast on 50 (60, 70) stitches.
2. Work in rib stitch (k1, p1) for 1.5 inches.
3. Switch to stockinette stitch and continue until piece measures half of the chest measurement.
4. Shape leg openings by binding off 8 (10, 12) stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows.
5. Continue working in stockinette stitch over the remaining stitches for the back.
6. After reaching desired length, divide for the neck opening and work each shoulder separately.
7. Work each shoulder until it measures one-third of the neck circumference, then bind off.
8. Rejoin yarn at the remaining stitches and work the other shoulder to match.
9. Pick up stitches around the leg openings and work in the round in rib stitch for 1 inch.
10. Bind off loosely and weave in ends.
11. Add any desired embellishments such as buttons or patches.
