Cozy Ribbed Beanie Knitting Pattern

Materials:

• Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK Aran, 10 ply) in your preferred color - approximately 150 yards (137 meters)
• Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles and double-pointed needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch marker

Gauge:

20 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in ribbing stitch pattern

Adult (one size fits most)

Pattern:

1. Using the long tail cast on method, cast on 88 stitches onto circular needles.
2. Place marker and join in the round, being careful not to twist stitches.
3. Round 1: *K2, P2; repeat from * to end of round.
4. Repeat Round 1 until piece measures 8 inches (20 cm) from cast on edge.
5. Crown shaping:
   • Round 1: *K2, P2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
   • Round 2: *K1, P2; repeat from * to end of round.
   • Round 3: *K2, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
   • Round 4: *K1, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
   • Round 5: *K2tog, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
   • Round 6: *K2, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
   • Round 7: *K2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
   • Round 8: *K1, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
   • Round 9: *K2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
6. Cut yarn, leaving a tail, and thread tail through remaining stitches. Pull tight to close the top of the beanie.
7. Weave in ends and block to shape, if desired.
