Fair Isle Style in White and Blue

Materials:

Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in white and blue (MC - main color, CC - contrasting color)
Needles: US 6 / UK 8 / 4mm double-pointed needles
Tapestry needle

Gauge:

22 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in fair isle pattern

Abbreviations:

MC: Main Color
CC: Contrasting Color
K: Knit
P: Purl
CO: Cast on
BO: Bind off
St(s): Stitch(es)

Pattern:

Using MC, CO 40 sts and divide evenly on 4 DPNs (10 sts per needle). Join in the round, being careful not to twist.

Round 1: *K2 MC, K2 CC; repeat from * to end of round.

Rounds 2-10: Continue in fair isle pattern.

Continue to follow the fair isle chart for the desired number of rounds, then proceed to thumb gusset.

Thumb Gusset:

Round 1: K1 MC, M1, K3 MC, M1, K to end of round.

Rounds 2-4: Knit all sts.

Repeat Rounds 1-4 until there are 15 thumb gusset sts, then place these sts on waste yarn.

Continue knitting in fair isle pattern until mitten measures desired length.

Top Decrease:

Round 1: *K2tog MC, K2tog CC; repeat from * to end of round

Round 2: Knit all sts.

Repeat Rounds 1-2 until 8 sts remain, then break yarn and draw through remaining sts. Weave in ends.

Finishing:
