### About This Pattern
This cardigan is inspired by the iconic Chanel jacket silhouette: a collarless, boxy-yet-fitted shape with refined trim details. The body is worked in classic stockinette stitch, framed by a 3-stitch seed stitch border at all vertical edges for a polished, textured trim effect. ### Seed Stitch (worked flat over any number of stitches)

## BUTTON BANDS

### Seaming First
Before working button bands, complete the following seaming steps (see Finishing section for full seaming instructions):
1. Seam shoulder seams.

The button bands are worked last, after the cardigan body is assembled.

### Left Front Band (Buttonhole Band — for women's garments)

With RS facing, using US 5 / 3.75 mm needles, and starting at the lower left front edge, pick up and knit stitches up the left front edge at a rate of **3 stitches for every 4 rows.**

**Total neckband sts:** approximately **52 (64, 72, 80, 86) sts.**

**Rows 1–6:** Work all sts in seed stitch.

BO all sts loosely in pattern.

## FINISHING

### Blocking
Block all pieces before seaming for best results.
1. Wet-block or steam-block each piece to the finished measurements listed.
2. Pin to measurements on a blocking mat and allow to dry completely.
3. This is especially important for the seed stitch borders to lie flat.

### Seaming Order
Always seam in this order to avoid distortion:

**Step 1 — Shoulder Seams:**
Using mattress stitch or three-needle bind-off, seam left and right front shoulders to back shoulders. Match stitch counts carefully.

**Step 2 — Set in Sleeves:**
Fold each sleeve in half lengthwise to find the center top of the sleeve cap. Pin this center point to the shoulder seam. Ease the sleeve cap into the armhole, matching the initial bound-off stitches of the sleeve cap to the armhole bind-off of the body. Seam using mattress stitch.
