# Easter Egg Cozy Bundle - Bunny & Chick

A delightful pair of egg cozies to brighten your Easter breakfast table! These quick and easy projects transform ordinary hard-boiled eggs into adorable characters. The simple construction makes this perfect for beginners, while the charming results will delight crocheters of all skill levels.

## MATERIALS

**Yarn:**
- Chunky weight yarn (5) in the following colors:
  - **For Bunny:** White or cream (main color), pink (inner ears) - approximately 30 yards total
  - **For Chick:** Yellow (main color), orange (beak) - approximately 30 yards total
  - Small amount of black or dark brown for embroidered features

**Hook & Notions:**
- US H-8 (5.0mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends and sewing
- Stitch marker
- Small amount of fiberfill stuffing (for ears only)
- Scissors
- Optional: small black beads or safety eyes (6mm)

**Fits:** Standard large chicken eggs (approximately 2" diameter × 2.5" tall)

## GAUGE

12 stitches and 14 rounds = 4" (10cm) in single crochet, worked in continuous rounds

*Gauge is not critical for this project, but will affect finished size. Adjust hook size if needed to create a fabric tight enough that stuffing won't show through.*

## FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

- **Egg Cozy:** Approximately 2.5" (6.5cm) diameter × 3" (7.5cm) tall
- **Bunny Ears:** Approximately 3" (7.5cm) long × 0.75" (2cm) wide each
- **Chick Beak:** Approximately 0.5" (1.5cm) long

## PATTERN NOTES

- Egg cozies are worked in continuous rounds from bottom to top; use stitch marker to track beginning of rounds
- Do NOT stuff the egg cozy body - it needs to be hollow to fit over the egg
- Ears may be lightly stuffed for dimension
- Work with tight tension to create neat, even stitches
- Ch 1 at beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch
- When pattern says "around," work in each stitch around

### EGG COZY BODY (White or Cream)

**Rnd 1:** 6 sc in magic ring [6]

**Rnd 2:** Inc in each st around [12]

**Rnd 3:** (Sc, inc) around [18]
*Math check: 6 × (1 sc + 1 inc) = 6 sc + 6 inc = 18 sts ✓*

**Rnds 4-10:** Sc in each st around [18]
*7 rounds of even work to create height*

**Rnd 11:** (Sc, dec) around [12]
*Math check: 6 × (1 sc + 1 dec) = 6 sc + 6 dec = 18 - 6 = 12 sts ✓*

**Rnd 12:** Dec around [6]
*Math check: 6 dec = 12 - 6 = 6 sts ✓*

Fasten off, leaving 8" tail. Thread tail through remaining 6 sts and pull tight to close hole. Weave in end on inside.

### BUNNY EARS (Make 2)

**Outer Ear (White or Cream):**

**Rnd 1:** 4 sc in magic ring [4]

**Rnd 2:** (Sc, inc) around [6]
*Math check: 2 × (1 sc + 1 inc) = 2 sc + 2 inc = 6 sts ✓*

**Rnds 3-10:** Sc in each st around [6]
*8 rounds creates approximately 3" length*

Fasten off, leaving 10" tail for sewing. Flatten ear with opening at bottom.

**Inner Ear (Pink) - Make 2:**

Ch 7

**Row 1:** Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn [6]

**Rows 2-7:** Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn [6]
*6 rows total*

Fasten off, leaving 8" tail.

### ASSEMBLY - BUNNY

1. **Attach Inner Ears:** Center pink inner ear piece on white outer ear. Using pink tail, whip stitch or sew down center of pink piece to white ear. Repeat for second ear.

2. **Stuff Ears (Optional):** Lightly stuff bottom third of each ear with small amount of fiberfill for dimension. Do not overstuff - ears should still be floppy.

3. **Attach Ears to Cozy:** Position ears on top of cozy, spacing about 0.5" apart. Using white tails from ears, sew securely to top of cozy, working through both layers of flattened ear bottom.

4. **Embroider Face:**
   - **Eyes:** Using black yarn, make two French knots or sew small X's for eyes, positioned on Rnd 6-7, about 1" apart
   - **Nose:** Make small triangle with pink yarn at center, on Rnd 8
   - **Mouth:** Using black yarn, create simple Y-shape or two small curved lines below nose
   - Alternative: Attach 6mm safety eyes before embroidering other features

5. Weave in all remaining ends.

## CHICK EGG COZY

### EGG COZY BODY (Yellow)

Work exactly as Bunny Egg Cozy Body (Rnds 1-12).

### BEAK (Orange)

**Rnd 1:** 3 sc in magic ring [3]

**Rnd 2:** Sc in each st around [3]

**Rnd 3:** (Sc, inc) around [4-5]
*Work inc in 2 sts only to create slightly wider base*

Fasten off, leaving 10" tail for sewing. Stuff lightly with tiny amount of fiberfill.

### WINGS (Yellow) - Make 2

Ch 5

**Row 1:** Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in last ch [4 sts]

Fasten off, leaving 8" tail for sewing.

### ASSEMBLY - CHICK

1. **Attach Beak:** Position beak on front of cozy, centered on Rnd 7-8. Using orange tail, sew securely around base of beak, adding tiny bit more stuffing if needed before closing completely.

2. **Attach Wings:** Position wings on sides of cozy at Rnd 6-7, with point facing down/back. Using yellow tails, sew wide end of each wing to cozy body. Wings should curve slightly away from body.

3. **Embroider Face:**
   - **Eyes:** Using black yarn, make two French knots or small circles, positioned on Rnd 5-6, about 0.75" apart (above beak)
   - **Eyebrows (Optional):** Small curved lines above eyes for expression
   - Alternative: Attach 6mm safety eyes on Rnd 5-6 before adding beak

4. **Add Feet (Optional):**
   - Using orange yarn, embroider three small straight stitches at bottom front of cozy to suggest feet (on Rnd 2-3)

5. Weave in all remaining ends.

## CARE INSTRUCTIONS
