Vintage 50s Jumper Pattern

Materials
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK: Aran, AU: 10 ply)
- Needles: US 8 / UK 6 / 5 mm circular needles
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
Gauge
18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Pattern
Body
- Using long-tail cast on, cast on 120 stitches
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist
- Knit in stockinette stitch until the body measures 15 inches from the cast-on edge
Raglan Shaping
Place markers after the 30th and 90th stitches
- Round 1: Knit until 2 stitches before the first marker, k2tog, slip marker, knit until the next marker, slip marker, ssk, knit to end
- Round 2: Knit all stitches
- Repeat these 2 rounds until there are 66 stitches remaining
Sleeves
- Transfer the last 36 stitches from the body to waste yarn
- With a new ball of yarn, knit across the next 48 stitches
- Join in the round and knit in stockinette stitch for 7 inches
- Cast off all stitches
- Repeat for second sleeve
Finishing
- Weave in all ends
- Block the jumper to measurements
