Vintage Heart Roll Neck Sweater Pattern

Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK: Aran, Metric: 10 ply) in main color (MC) and contrasting color (CC)
- Needles: US 7 (UK 7, Metric 4.5mm) and US 8 (UK 6, Metric 5mm) knitting needles

Gauge:
18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch using larger needles

Instructions:
- Using MC and smaller needles, cast on 100 (110, 120, 130) stitches. Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 2 inches.
- Switch to larger needles and knit in stockinette stitch until piece measures 12 (13, 14, 15) inches from cast on edge.
- Begin heart motif: Using CC, follow chart to knit hearts onto sweater front.
- Continue in stockinette stitch until piece measures 18 (19, 20, 21) inches from cast on edge.
- Shape neck: Work center 30 (32, 34, 36) stitches in stockinette, place remaining stitches on hold. Work each side of neck separately, decreasing 1 stitch at neck edge on next row, then every other row 5 more times. Work even until neck measures 6 inches.
- Join yarn at neck edge and knit across held stitches, working decreases to match first side.
- Work even until neck measures 8 inches. Bind off all stitches.
