Knit Flat Vest-Style Fairy Dress for 19cm Doll (Chest 15cm) with Puffy Princess Sleeves, Leaflike Skirt, Elf Shoes, Upside-Down-Flower Hat and Ballet Cardigan

Detailed, row-by-row pattern for a 19cm silicone doll with chest circumference 15cm and head circumference 14cm. Worked flat (back-and-forth) on 3.0 mm needles using 4-ply yarn. Includes step-by-step shaping, simple ASCII illustrations and finishing notes. Suitable for knitters comfortable with increases, decreases, short rows and simple lace.

Materials

Gauge / Tension

Sample gauge (stockinette): 28 sts x 36 rows = 10 cm (4") using 3.0 mm needles. Because this is a fitted doll garment, check gauge on your yarn and adjust needle size if needed.

Notes

This pattern knits the dress flat. The body is worked from the lower edge up to the armholes; armhole openings are shaped and sleeves are made separately then sewn in. The skirt is worked as a separate lace flounce picked up around the waist and creates leaflike motifs with a simple 7-stitch lace repeat. Puff on the sleeves is created by controlled increases and gathering at the sleeve cap.

Body / Vest Top (worked flat; make 1)

Cast on 42 sts. (Gauge 28 sts = 10 cm → 42 sts = 15 cm chest circumference.)

Row 0 (CO): CO 42 sts.
Rows 1-8 (Rib): *k1, p1* across. (8 rows = cuff of dress hem)
Row 9 (RS): K across. Start stockinette.
Work stockinette (RS: k across; WS: p across) until piece measures 4.5 cm from cast-on edge, ending at WS.

Armhole shaping

Row A1 (RS): K to last 4 sts, k2tog twice (bind-off-like shaping at right edge) -- or BO 2 sts at end of row if preferred.
Row A2 (WS): Purl across leaving left edge unworked for shaping: P2, p2tog twice at left edge (or BO 2 sts at beginning of row).
Repeat Row A1 and Row A2 one more time (total 4 sts removed each side). After these 2 sets you will have 42 - 8 = 34 sts remaining.
Work even in stockinette for 0.8 cm (about 3–4 rows) to form shoulder height for straps.
Now shape shoulders and neck opening:
RS: K12, BO 10 center sts for neck opening, k12. (If you prefer a shallower neck, BO 6 center sts and work short rows for curve.)
Work each shoulder separately: Work 4 rows stockinette on left shoulder, BO all sts. Repeat for right shoulder.

Finishing body: Block lightly if needed. Seam side edges from hem up to the armhole opening, leaving the armhole gap open. Use mattress stitch for an invisible seam.

Sleeves (make 2 puff princess sleeves)

Sleeves are knit flat and gathered at the cap for puff. The lower sleeve will be narrow at cuff and fuller at cap.

CO 20 sts.
Rows 1-6 (Rib): *k1, p1* across.
Row 7 (RS): K across.
Increase section to create puff: Every RS row increase 1 st at each end by working M1 at each end until you have 30 sts. (This creates gentle triangular shaping; do 5 increases on alternate RS rows.)
Once you have 30 sts, work even in stockinette for 1.0 cm.
Create sleeve cap shaping (for ease): On RS rows, bind off 3 sts at beginning of next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st each end every RS row 3 times (k2tog at RS right end, ssk at RS left end on subsequent RS). Continue until 12 sts remain. BO remaining sts.
Finish: Gather top cap using a running stitch pulled to fit armhole opening length. Ease/pull to match the armhole opening (about 4.5 cm circumference). Sew sleeve into armhole with small even gathers to get the puff.
Option: Add a tiny ruffle at cuff by picking up 40 sts around cuff and working 4 rows of garter then BO loosely; or add elastic thread through hem if you want a gathered cuff.

Leaflike Skirt (worked as lace flounce, then picked up)

Pick up stitches around the lower edge of the seamed body. For fullness pick up approx 2 stitches for every 1 cast-on stitch: pick up 84 sts around the waist (2x fullness). If your pickup count differs, adjust the lace repeat length (repeat is 7 sts).

After picking up 84 sts, arrange marker at beginning.
Leaf Lace pattern - multiple of 7 sts.
Row 1 (RS): *k3, yo, k2tog, k1* repeat to end. (84 sts)
Row 2 (WS): Purl all sts.
Row 3 (RS): *k2, yo, k3tog (sl1,k2tog,psso) , k2* repeat.
Row 4 (WS): Purl all sts.
Row 5 (RS): *k1, yo, k3, k2tog* repeat.
Row 6 (WS): Purl all sts.
Row 7 (RS): *yo, k5, ssk* repeat.
Row 8 (WS): Purl all sts.
These 8 rows form one leaf motif. Repeat rows 1-8 5 times (total length ~4.5 cm) or until skirt reaches desired length.
Finish with 2 rows garter or a 1x1 rib if you prefer a neat edge, then BO loosely.
Blocking: Gently stretch leaf points to open lace so they look leaflike. Pin to shape.

Hat - Upside-Down Flower (flat, seam to form bell-shaped flower)

Head circumference = 14 cm → stitches = 14 cm x 2.8 sts/cm ≈ 39-40 sts. Cast on 40 sts.

CO 40 sts.
Rows 1-6 (Rib): *k1, p1* across.
Row 7 (RS): K across.
Work stockinette until hat measures 1.2 cm from CO (measured along back of head).
Form flare (petal rim): Increase row (RS): *k5, M1* repeat to end (increase approx 6-7 sts). Work 2 rows stockinette.
Petal shaping: Work short rows across each petal section if desired: divide sts into 5 petal sections (approx 9 sts each), work 3-4 short rows across each petal separately to create a rounded petal head with extra depth then join.
Crown shaping (to create rounded crown inside the bell): RS decrease row: *k6, k2tog* across. WS: p all.
Repeat decreases every RS row until 8 sts remain. BO remaining sts, thread through, pull tight and secure.
Seam the side to form a bell. Turn hat so the flared edge points down like an upside-down flower; small decorative picots or points can be blocked out on the rim to resemble petals.

Elf Shoes (slippers) - pair

CO 18 sts.
Rows 1-4: Garter stitch (k every row) for sole thickness.
Work flat: Row 5 (RS): k across. Row 6 (WS): p across.
Toe shaping: Row 7 (RS): k6, k2tog, k6 (decreases 1 st). Row 8 (WS): p across.
Row 9 (RS): k6, k2tog, k5 (decrease). Row 10 (WS): p across.
When 12 sts remain, BO center 6 sts, leaving 3 sts each side for sides of shoe. Fold and seam sole with mattress stitch, then seam top edges leaving opening for foot. Add tiny I-cord or ribbon tie across instep if desired.

Ballet Cardigan (short open-front)

Simple cropped cardigan, worked flat, seamed and finished.

CO 30 sts.
Rows 1-6 (Rib): *k1, p1* across.
Work stockinette for 1.6 cm.
Armhole shaping: BO 2 sts at beginning of next 2 rows (one each side) -> 26 sts remain. Work 2 rows even.
Neck shaping: Work 10 rows even, then BO 4 sts center for neck and work each side separately 5 rows then BO.
Sleeves for cardigan: CO 14 sts, rib 4 rows, work even 8 rows, BO. Sew sleeves into armholes. Add tiny crochet chain or i-cord trim along front edges as finishing. Sew a snap or make a loop-and-button closure at chest.

Sizing & Adjustments

If your gauge differs: compute stitches per cm from your swatch and multiply by doll measurement (15 cm chest or 14 cm head). For a looser skirt, pick up more stitches for more flare. For more puff in sleeves, increase more frequently before shaping the cap.
