Fairy Dress Set for 19cm Silicone Doll (Chest 15cm)
Detailed knit pattern for a tiny fairy outfit: fitted dress with gathered flower-scallop skirt, elf shoes, upside-down-flower hat and a ballet-style cardigan. Designed for a 19cm (7.5in) doll with a 15cm (5.9in) chest circumference. Skill: intermediate (simple lace, small needles, small shaping).
Materials
- Yarn: Fingering / Sock weight yarn (approx totals): main color 25–40 yds (23–37 m) ~ 5–10 g; contrast/trim 15–20 yds (14–18 m) ~ 3–5 g. Total estimate 50–70 yds (46–64 m) depending on skirt fullness and trims. Use 100% wool or wool-blend for nice drape and easy shaping.
- Needles: Use needles appropriate to gauge. Recommendations: 2.25 mm (US 1 / UK old 13) circular or DPNs for working small circumference in the round; 2.0 mm (US 0 / UK old 14) for tighter fabric (shoes/hat); 1.75 mm (US 000 / UK old 15) optional for tiny details. (Specify US, UK old and Metric needle sizes as requested.)
- Notions: Tapestry needle, 2–3 tiny sew-on snaps or 2 small buttons (4–5 mm), small amount of elastic thread (optional for shoes), stitch marker, scrap yarn for provisional cast-on if desired.
Gauge
32 sts = 10 cm (4”) in stockinette on 2.25 mm / US 1. This is a working guideline; the pattern is written to target finished chest circumference rather than exact gauge. If your fabric is much looser, go down a needle size; if much tighter, go up.
Measurements (finished)
- Chest circumference (unstretched): 15 cm (5.9 in) - target
- Dress total length (shoulder to hem): 9 cm (3.5 in) - adjustable
- Shoes length: 3.8 cm (1.5 in)
- Hat height: 6.5 cm (2.6 in) (from crown to brim petals)
- Cardigan length: 6 cm (2.4 in) body length, 2.5 cm (1 in) sleeve length

Construction Overview
Dress: knitted in the round from the top down. Small fitted bodice worked as a tube, then increases to a petal-scallop lace skirt. Straps are I-cord or knitted straps picked up and attached later.
Shoes: simple two-part shoes knit flat and seamed, elastic or sewn-in catch to keep on doll foot; shaped toe for elf-like point.
Hat: knitted flat or in the round with petal points that fold down to create an upside-down flower cap (petals are small short-row or wedge sections).
Cardigan: worked flat, seamed at back, cast-on neckband and picot edge, tiny button closure at front.
Pattern - DRESS
Notes: The pattern uses a working circular cast-on. The bodice sits snug at 15 cm chest. If your gauge differs, calculate cast-on as (chest circumference in inches) x (sts per inch) and use an even number divisible by pattern repeat.
Bodice (top-down, in the round)
- CO 48 sts with 2.25 mm needles using a stretchy cast-on (48 sts = target for 15 cm chest at 8 sts/in).
- Join to work in the round, place BOR marker. Work in K2, P2 rib for 6 rounds (about 0.8 cm) for a neat top edge.
- Stockinette round: knit every round until bodice measures 2.5 cm from cast-on edge (about 6–7 rounds depending on tension).
- Waist shaping: Next round, increase evenly 8 sts (kfb around every 6th st) to total 56 sts to provide a slight ease for skirt gather. Place markers every 14 sts to mark 4 panels.
Skirt - Petal Scallop (worked in rounds with short circular lace repeat)
Set up lace repeat over 14-st panels (4 panels).
- Round 1: *K2, yo, K2tog, K6* repeat from * to * around. (56 sts)
- Round 2: Knit all sts.
- Round 3: *K1, yo, K2tog, K6, yo, K1* repeat around.
- Round 4: Knit all sts.
- Round 5: *yo, K2tog, K6, K2tog, yo* repeat around.
Repeat rounds 1–5 two or three times until skirt measures desired length (approx 5.5 cm from waist for a fairy skirt). End after a knit round. Cast off loosely in pattern with 2.25 mm needles or work a picot hem by: *(k2, YO)* across, then BO on next round stretching slightly to open scallops.
Straps
Option A: I-cord straps. Using 2.25 mm double-pointed needles, cast on 3 sts, work I-cord for 4.5 cm, BO. Make second strap. Attach straps to front by sewing ends neatly inside bodice top edge.
Option B: Knit narrow 6-st strap: CO 6 sts on 2.25 mm, work garter stitch for 4.5 cm, BO. Fold and sew ends for a stronger strap.
Finishing Dress
- Weave in ends. Lightly block to open lace and set shape. Do not overstretch silicone doll contact area; use pressing cloth if steaming.
- Optional: sew a tiny snap at back of bodice if you prefer a closure rather than pulling over the head (snap length must be small to fit scale).
Pattern - ELF SHOES (pair)
Worked flat; seam under sole; optional elastic loop.
- CO 22 sts on 2.0 mm needles.
- Row 1 (RS): K across.
- Row 2 (WS): P across.
- Rows 3–6: Work in garter stitch for 4 rows to form sole shaping.
- Toe shaping: Row 7: K10, K2tog, K1, K2tog, K9 (20 sts). Row 8: P across. Row 9: K9, K2tog, K2tog, K9 (18 sts). Row 10: P across.
- Continue until 12 sts remain, then work 4 rows garter stitch. BO remaining sts.
Sew sole seam with mattress stitch, leaving heel opening for foot. Optionally sew a tiny elastic loop across instep or whip a small strap and attach with a stud button. For pointed elf toe, pick up one corner of toe seam slightly and tack to create a curled-up point.
Pattern - UPSIDE-DOWN FLOWER HAT
Overview: Cast on for crown, increase in wedges to make petal points; fold down petals to sit like an inverted flower over the doll’s head.
- CO 40 sts on 2.0 mm in the round. Join, PM.
- Round 1–3: Knit to shape smooth crown (3 rounds).
- Increase round: *(K6, m1)* repeat across (48 sts).
- Next rounds: Knit 3 rounds even.
- Petal shaping (make 8 petals across crown): Work 6-st wedge repeats: over each wedge do short-row petal or wedge increase/dec decrease to create a triangular petal point. Simpler wedge method: For each petal wedge of 6 sts, knit in garter stitch flat by working small strips attached and grafting, or: Round A: *K5, yo, K1* to make eyelet petal bases. Follow with shaping rows where each wedge has 1–2 extra rows to form petal height, then decrease to a point by K2tog across the wedge.
- After petals are shaped, bind off loosely. Fold petals down so the points radiate outwards like flower petals; tack inside with tiny stitches to hold shape. Add a small bead or picot at center if desired.
Alternate simpler hat: Cast on a small circle, work increases to a shallow dome and then BO leaving long tail. With tail, sew evenly-spaced tucks to create 5–8 petal points and attach them to fold down.
Pattern - BALLET CARDIGAN (tiny)
Worked flat, simple cropped shape with picot trims.
- Back: CO 34 sts on 2.25 mm needles. Work garter stitch (RS/WS Knit) for 10 rows. Then work Stockinette for 6 rounds for body (approx 3.8 cm total length). BO 6 sts at each end for shoulder on next row leaving center 22 sts for neck. Work each shoulder separately for 2 rows and BO.
- Fronts (make 2): CO 18 sts. Work same as back until same armhole depth, shaping front neck by decreasing 1 st at neck edge every other row 3 times. BO shoulders to match back.
- Sleeves: Pick up 16 sts around armhole with 2.25 mm, work 6 rows garter, BO. Short cap sleeve used as puff; can be made longer for full sleeve.
Neck and hem: Pick up stitches around front edges and neck with 2.25 mm, work 4 rounds K2, P2 rib or optional picot edge: *CO 3 with crochet hook, BO 3* across (or cast on 3, BO 3 on next row) to make tiny picot. Attach 1 or 2 tiny buttons at front edge and make corresponding button loops or sew snaps.
Finishing & Fitting
- Weave all ends. Block very lightly to shape; silicone dolls may mark if wetted or pressed, so use a steam-only or moisture barrier and test on scrap yarn.
- Try garments on doll and tack any straps or petals in place to secure. Use tiny snaps or sew-on 4mm buttons for closures.
- Shoes: Add a tiny bit of clear-drying craft glue to the inside sole if shoes slip off frequently, or stitch a small strip of elastic to hold shoe under ankle.
Sizing & Adjustments
If the doll’s chest differs slightly, recalc CO: CO sts = (chest in inches) x (your gauge in sts per inch). Keep number even and divisible by pattern repeat (for this pattern repeat is 14 sts for the skirt panel or 7 sts for petals). Adjust skirt length by adding or removing lace repeats.
Tips
- Work with lifeline/scrap marker for tiny projects to avoid ripping too far back.
- Use high-contrast stitch marker color for BOR.
- Photos: place garments on a soft cloth and use tweezers for tiny pins while seaming.
