HEAD TUFT (White)

• Rnd 1: 5 sc in magic ring, pull tight [5]
• Ch 3, sl st back into ring; repeat to make 2–3 short loops for a small fluffy tuft.

Fasten off, leaving a tail. Keep it small (~0.5 in).

ASSEMBLY

Pin all pieces before sewing. Use matching yarn and whip stitch.

1. Beak: Center on the face just below and between the eyes. Sew all around; keep it pointing forward as a closed beak.

2. Feet: Sew both feet flat to the underside/front of the body base, about 1 in apart, toes pointing forward so the bird stands upright.

3. Wings: Attach one wing to each side of the body, around Rnd 8–10 level, angled slightly downward. Sew along the top edge only so the lower edge lifts naturally.

4. Rainbow Crest (headband arch): Arrange the 6 feathers in an arch across the top of the head, spanning from just above one eye area, over the crown, to the other side — like a headband. Sew in traditional rainbow order, left to right: Red → Orange → Yellow → Green → Blue → Violet.

   • Space the 6 feathers evenly across roughly 4.5 in of curved crown.
   • Tilt each feather slightly outward so the arch fans upward.
   • Sew each feather base securely flat to the head.

5. White Tuft: Sew the small white tuft on the top-front of the head, IN FRONT of the feather row (between the eyes/beak area and the base of the arch). This sits forward of the rainbow feathers, not among them.

6. Final: Weave in all ends. Add extra stuffing through the body if needed for a plump shape.

Finishing & Safety Notes

• Ensure all sewn parts (feathers, wings, feet, beak, tuft) are firmly secured — no loose small parts.
• For children under 3, embroider eyes with black yarn instead of using 9 mm safety eyes.
• Shape the crest arch by lightly steaming or finger-blocking the feathers if they curl.
