Cable Knitted Oversized Sweater Pattern
This pattern will guide you through creating a cozy cable knitted oversized sweater that is perfect for chilly days.
Materials:
- Yarn: Bulky weight yarn (UK: Chunky, Metric: 12 ply) - 1000g
- Knitting Needles: US size 10 (UK size 6, Metric size 6mm) and US size 8 (UK size 6, Metric size 5mm)

- Tapestry needle
Gauge:
14 stitches x 20 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch using larger needles
Instructions:
- Using the larger needles, cast on 80 stitches.
- Row 1-6: Work in rib stitch (K1, P1) for 6 rows.
- Row 7 (RS): K6, *C4F, K6; repeat from * to end of row.
- Row 8 (WS) and all even rows: Purl all stitches.
- Row 9: K6, *C4F, K6; repeat from * to end of row.
- Continue in this cable pattern, working the cables every 8th row until piece measures 18 inches from cast on edge.
- Shape armholes: Bind off 6 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows.
- Next row: K2, place next 27 stitches on holder for neck, k to end.
- Work each side of the neck separately.
- Decrease 1 stitch at neck edge every other row 5 times.
- Work even until armhole measures 9 inches, ending at armhole edge.
- Join second ball of yarn and work the other side of the neck to match the first side.
- Join front and back at shoulders using 3-needle bind off.
- Sew side and sleeve seams.
