# Little Green Alien — Amigurumi Crochet Pattern
### "The Claw chose me!" — Inspired by the Toy Story Aliens

**Difficulty:** Intermediate
**Finished Size:** Approx. 7" (18 cm) tall

## Materials
- **Yarn:** Sport weight (#2 fine), in:
  - Main color: Mint/Lime **Green** (~80 yds)
  - **White** (small amount for eyes)
  - **Black** (small amount for pupils/mouth) — or black embroidery floss
  - Optional: tiny scrap of **Purple/Teal** for collar accent
- **Hook:** US C-2 / **3.0 mm** (sized down for tight gauge)
- **Safety eyes:** Optional — this alien's signature look uses flat embroidered/felt oval eyes (see Eyes section)
- Polyester fiberfill stuffing
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker
- Optional: small white felt + black felt for eyes (cleaner look)

## Gauge
6 sc x 7 rounds = 1" (2.5 cm) in single crochet.
Gauge is not critical for fit, but tight, even stitches prevent stuffing show-through.

- **dec** = invisible decrease (FLO of next 2 sts, yo, pull through both, yo, pull through all 3)
- **MR** = magic ring

## HEAD
Begin with Green.

- **Rnd 1:** 6 sc in MR **[6]**
- **Rnd 2:** inc in each st around (6 inc) **[12]**
- **Rnd 3:** (sc, inc) x6 **[18]**
- **Rnd 4:** (2 sc, inc) x6 **[24]**
- **Rnd 5:** (3 sc, inc) x6 **[30]**
- **Rnds 6–13:** sc in each st around (8 rounds) **[30]**

*Validation: 30 sts held even for 8 rounds gives a tall, slightly oval head.*

**Eye & Mouth placement:** Now is the time to add facial features (see Eyes & Mouth sections). Center the face on the front, with eyes around **Rnd 8–9**.

Begin closing:
- **Rnd 14:** (3 sc, dec) x6 **[24]**
- **Rnd 15:** (2 sc, dec) x6 **[18]**

**Stuff the head firmly now.**

- **Rnd 16:** (sc, dec) x6 **[12]**
- **Rnd 17:** dec x6 **[6]**

Add more stuffing if needed. Fasten off, leave a 10" tail, weave through FLO of remaining 6 sts, and cinch closed. Set aside.

*Validation: 30→24→18→12→6 mirrors the increase rounds exactly — symmetrical closure.*

## BODY
Begin with Green. (For a collar accent, work Rnds 1–2 in Purple, then switch to Green.)

- **Rnd 1:** 6 sc in MR **[6]**
- **Rnd 2:** inc in each st around **[12]**
- **Rnd 3:** (sc, inc) x6 **[18]**
- **Rnd 4:** (2 sc, inc) x6 **[24]**
- **Rnds 5–13:** sc in each st around (9 rounds) **[24]**

*Validation: A 24-st tube ~9 rounds tall creates the alien's slim torso, slightly narrower than the head.*

Begin closing the base:
- **Rnd 14:** (2 sc, dec) x6 **[18]**
- **Rnd 15:** (sc, dec) x6 **[12]**

**Stuff the body firmly** (firm enough to stand upright).

- **Rnd 16:** dec x6 **[6]**

Fasten off, leave a tail, cinch closed. The Rnd 1 (MR) end is the NECK — leave open and lightly stuffed for attaching the head.

## ARMS (Make 2)
Begin with Green. Stuff lightly as you go.

- **Rnd 1:** 5 sc in MR **[5]**
- **Rnd 2:** inc in each st around **[10]**

Wait — to keep arms slim, use this corrected slim version:

- **Rnd 1:** 6 sc in MR **[6]**
- **Rnd 2:** sc in each st around **[6]**
- **Rnds 3–9:** sc in each st around (7 rounds) **[6]**

*Validation: 6-st tube, 9 rounds = ~1.3" slim arm, proportional to a 30-st head.*

Stuff very lightly (keep slim). Flatten the top opening and sc 3 across to close, OR leave open and sew to body. Fasten off, leave a 6" tail.

## LEGS (Make 2)
Begin with Green. Stuff lightly.

- **Rnd 1:** 6 sc in MR **[6]**
- **Rnd 2:** (sc, inc) x3 **[9]**
- **Rnds 3–11:** sc in each st around (9 rounds) **[9]**

*Validation: 9-st tube, 11 rounds = ~1.6" leg, sturdy enough to support standing.*

Stuff lightly. Flatten and close with 4 sc across, OR leave open to sew. Fasten off, leave a 6" tail.

## EARS (Make 2)
The aliens have small rounded side ears. Begin with Green.

- **Rnd 1:** 6 sc in MR **[6]**
- **Rnd 2:** (sc, inc) x3 **[9]**
- **Rnd 3:** sc in each st around **[9]**

Do not stuff. Flatten and sc 4 across to close. Fasten off, leave a 6" tail.

## ANTENNAE (Make 3)
The signature three-pointed antennae on top of the head. Begin with Green.

- **Rnd 1:** 5 sc in MR **[5]**
- **Rnds 2–4:** sc in each st around (3 rounds) **[5]**

*Validation: 3 small slim stalks, ~0.6" each.*

Do not stuff (or stuff with a strand of yarn to keep them upright). Fasten off, leave a 5" tail.

## EYES (Make 2) — Signature Oval Eyes
The aliens are famous for large oval eyes with single black pupils.

**Option A — Felt (recommended, cleanest):**
- Cut 2 white ovals approx. ½" x ¾" (1.3 x 1.9 cm).
- Cut 2 small black circles for pupils, glue/stitch onto upper-center of each white oval.
- Stitch the white ovals side by side onto the front of the head at Rnds 8–9.

**Option B — Crochet:**
With White:
- **Rnd 1:** 5 sc in MR **[5]**
- **Rnd 2:** inc in each st around **[10]**
- **Rnd 3:** (sc, inc) x5 **[15]**
- Slip stitch, fasten off. Gently shape into an oval. Embroider a black pupil with a French knot or satin stitch.

Embroider eyes touching or slightly overlapping in the center for the classic alien expression.

## MOUTH
With Black yarn or floss, embroider a small simple smile (a single curved line, ~½" wide) just below and between the eyes, around Rnd 11 of the head.

## ASSEMBLY

1. **Antennae:** Sew the 3 antennae upright on top of the head, evenly spaced in a small triangle/row (center one slightly forward).
2. **Ears:** Sew the 2 ears flat to the sides of the head, around Rnd 9, in line with the eyes.
3. **Head to Body:** Add a little extra stuffing into the neck. Pin the head onto the open top of the body, centering the face. Whip stitch securely all the way around.
4. **Arms:** Pin to the upper sides of the body (just below the neck join), angled slightly down. Whip stitch securely.
5. **Legs:** Pin to the base of the body, splayed slightly outward for stability. Whip stitch securely. *Tip: Set legs a little forward and apart so the alien stands on its own.*
6. **Eyes & Mouth:** Confirm felt/embroidered eyes and mouth are centered and secure (see Eyes/Mouth sections).
7. Weave in all ends.

## Finishing & Safety Notes
- For children under 3, do **not** use glued felt or safety eyes — embroider all features directly and securely.
- Tug-test all limbs, ears, and antennae after sewing to ensure nothing pulls free (no choking hazards).
- For a free-standing pose, ensure the body and legs are stuffed firmly and legs are splayed.

- Head: 6→12→18→24→30, held 8 rnds, closed 24→18→12→6 ✓
